COHDRL CHAIRMAN - STEVE CROOKS OUTLINES THE YEAR AHEAD IN RUGBY LEAGUE
Welcome to our new website! The COHDRL Management Group is excited to see Hull and surrounding areas prepare for a return to rugby, and a return to normality.
In recent weeks there has been a growing zest for Rugby League across all amateur clubs in our region, however it would be difficult to match the eager anticipation of COHDRL chairman Steve Crooks , who’s involvement within the game goes back several decades.
Here’s what Steve had to say to the community ahead of the upcoming rugby season…
On the importance of Rugby League
“ I think Rugby League in our city is massively important, not only from a professional perspective, but more importantly the community game, we are in a process of resurgence, we have made very good strides in stemming the decline in numbers and hopefully increasing the numbers playing in the COHDRL and not chasing the YJL dream .
“ Rugby League is a big part of our youths DNA, and developing local youngsters with a desire to play for Hull KR or Hull FC is massively important
On COHDRL goals for 2021
“ Nothing rash after the COVID impact, we started on a journey 2 years ago and our aim then is the same now, which as stated before, is to continue to increase the numbers of youngsters and teams playing in the COHDRL and enjoying it.
On what he is looking forward to most this year
“Realistically after the year we have just endured, to see games being played on a regular basis, touchlines occupied safely and players with smiles on there faces.”
